Bonafide was a self-initiated collaborative publishing project with myself and 2 writers. A London-centric hip-hop and electronic music and culture magazine with a bi-annual print run and a regularly updated website with over 40,000 readers.

Some of the featured artists include Danny Brown, DJ Shadow, Goldlink, Kendrick Lamar, Madlib, MF Doom, New Order, Theo Parrish, Thundercat and Tyler, The Creator. We even gave UK print debuts to Dam Funk and Flying Lotus.

As the publishing industry was changing and magazines were disappearing around us, we wanted to challenge what a hip-hop magazine was supposed to look like. With more and more people finding their content online, we took a minimalist, refined approach with more long-format features and a premium feel.

It is about time a hip-hop magazine leans towards minimal design and more innovative styles of photography.
